THE FOG SERIES: Experimental science fiction novelettes/novellas set in a futuristic world in which "psychotechnology" is used to program humans as part of the "Manual's" rules for a better, healthier, wiser, more progressive human society. Episodes in the Fog Series explore what it means to be human in a futuristic world in which the distinction between utopia and dystopia no longer exists. In the first of this series, "Fog", Shelly Hamilton stumbles upon hard evidence that nature intended man to live naturally, free from Programming. In an effort to prove her theory that the Manual's laws as well as Programming are unnatural and not in man's best interests, she finds herself incarcerated, having defied the laws by subverting Programming. Hesitantly, Shelly gives in to the demands of the system in order to be set free, hoping to come up with a more effective method of undermining it. "Fog 2", the second episode in the series, exposes Shelly to further Programming including memory extinction procedures to enable her to live a normal life once more as a constructive member of society. Despite the procedures, through a series of unexpected developments, Shelly comes to possess the discovery of the planet's top scientist that has the potential to easily Deprogram the masses. In her plight to ensure that man reverts to his natural state free from Programming, Shelly uses the technology enabling over a thousand prisoners from the Incarceration Province to escape, thereby unwittingly causing more harm than good. Shelly now has to find a way to undo the damage and make it up to the man she betrayed. She's also worried about a possible alien invasion, indirectly connected to her actions. "Fog 2" is the second novelette/novella in "The Fog Series". Read more
